When you think grilling, you may currently only think about meat. If this is the case, then you are missing out! Vegetables are a great way to add some more healthy options and add some extra flavor to your meals. Here are some tips to make your veggies taste as good as the meat!

Grilling methods

There are two main techniques for grilling vegetables. These are either directly on the grate, or in a grill pan. For direct grilling, you should cut large vegetables into smaller pieces. You want to have more surface area so that it will cook better, and pick up the amazing taste of the grill. Obviously, don’t cut them so small that they will fall through the grate. To add some flavor and to keep the veggies from sticking, put the pieces into a baggy with a marinade of salt, pepper, and olive oil. To directly grill smaller veggies you should stick them on a skewer. Usually, you should cook vegetables at medium heat, and until they are as tender as you desire. Meat will take more time to cook then veggies, so be aware of that.

Indirect grilling involves putting your veggies into either a pan or using aluminum foil. You should cut whatever vegetables you’re cooking into even slices so that everything cooks at the same speed. Add some olive oil, pepper, and salt to give it some extra flavor. If you are cooking a bunch of different types of vegetable, then you should separate them by density. This will again help prevent certain types of veggies from cooking too quickly. For example, potatoes will cook much slower than green beans. Grill at medium heat and shake the pan regularly to keep them from getting stuck together.
